System Technician
Description: The Systems Technician will implement solutions that are designed to help keep our customers more profitable and more competitive. Duties will include:
Representing Convergent Communication Technologies in a professional manner at all times
Installing, programming and implementing new telephone systems for our customers
Troubleshooting existing systems in an efficient manner
Performing moves, additions, and changes to existing systems as needed
Pulling, terminating and testing voice and data cable including but not limited to Category 5, 5e, 6 and fiber optic cable
Perform remote maintenance and programming of customer systems as needed
On call duty for emergency service requirements
Some travel will be required for training and for out of town installations
Some assistance with shipping/receiving/inventory.

Strong logic and critical thinking skills. Must be able to use basic troubleshooting skills to identify and/or eliminate causes of different problems in order to identify solutions.
Strong organizational skills, particularly managing a number of concurrent projects.
ExperienceTelecommunications experience, particularly in the area of Key and PBX systems, would be preferable. Specific experience that would be useful includes:
Installation, programming and maintenance of NEC Electra Elite and Electra Elite IPK key systems
Installation, programming and maintenance of NEC NEAX 2000 PBX systems
Installation, programming and maintenance of ESI IVX key systems
Installation, programming and maintenance of any Panasonic telephone systems
Installation, programming and maintenance of Active Voice voice mail systems
Prior factory training and technical certification on any of the above systems
Prior factory training and technical certification on any other major PBX or Key Systems.
Implementation of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP)
Implementation of Computer Telephony Integration CTI)
Structured Data Cabling installation, testing and certification of structured data cabling including Category 5, Category 5e, Category 6 and fiber optic cable.
Data networking and configuration, particularly in Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP environments.
